München, the capital of Bavaria, was first founded by monks who built their abbey here, giving the place it's name (from the word for 'monks'). In 1158 Welf Henry the Lion bestowed town status on München. In English it is called "Munich".
München is the city we will fly into and it is the beginning of our trip.

Marienplatz in München is one of the most famous squares.
