7th and 8th grade both receive highest rating of Gold at Carowinds Festival!!

Both the 7th and 8th grade orchestras received a Gold rating after performing on a stage at the Carowinds Festival.  They really worked hard and it shows.  After we performed we enjoyed the day at Carowinds riding the rides and eating funnel cakes!  I'm very proud of these students.  Click here to see some of the pictures.

Morning rehearsals on Thursday, May 15th and Friday, May 16th from 7-8am for 6th grade students going to Six Flags this Saturday.

Thursday, May 22nd at 7pm at Anderson University will be our next Chamber and Small Ensemble Concert!

EndPin Festival on March 14th and 15th at McCants Middle School was a Success!!!

 We had about 56 Celli and Basses come and practiced on Friday and Saturday.  Then the concert was at 2pm.  It was excellent!!  I will put up the video from the concert this week as well as pictures.  I have some of the songs on video, click here to see them.

All Video Footage from Fall and Winter Concert Up!!!

Gerry Hooper helped with getting the concert footage onto the main server so I could link it all so everyone could see it.  I just finished putting all of the footage from 2006-2007 back up as well.  Some footage has never been seen like when we performed at Magnolias Nursing Home.  I'll get the footage from 2005-2006 and 2004-2005 up as soon as I can.  Enjoy!!  Click Here to see it.

GAMAC Orchestra performs with guest soloist Mark O' Connor is a big success!!

I had the pleasure of performing with Mark O'Connor along with the other members of the GAMAC orchestra over spring break.  We performed his piece called "Harmony" that was written for the survivers of the 911 tragedy.  We also played his "Americana Symphony" which was partly commissioned by the GAMAC orchestra.  It was an excellent concert!

Morning rehearsals from 7-8am on Tuesdays and Fridays for Chamber Orchestra.  We will continue to work on Furiant.

Golden Apple Award Given Mr. Murch

I was a little stunned when News Channel 4 came into my classroom last Wednesday and annouced that I won the "Golden Apple Award".  It was very nice.  I want to thank Jordaan Parales, his Dad Jim Parales and Clark DeFranco for sending in the essays and for nominating me.  It was a pleasant suprise to say the least!  I feel that half of the award is for my students and parents who work every bit as hard as I do to make our program thrive.  Thank you again, I am very honored to have such great support.  If you missed it on the news you can watch it here.  Just click the link:
